It's nice to get out from studio, but there's nothing like hefting a zeppelin with your boom at full extension to remind your body that you need to get back to the gym. There wasn't budget to rent a wireless lav setup, so with the exception of one shot I just boomed. But with a lot of wide shots, and an uncontrolled set adjacent to both a basketball court and a skateboard, all under an overpass there were some... challenges. Fortunately, there wasn't much in the way of sync dialogue, and why able to pick up most of wild. Still, I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a lot of time in Izotope RX when it comes time to post. One shot I'm excited about is this one:
It's difficult to see in this picture, for the wheelchair POV shot, I asked the actor to wear two DPA 4060's hooked on his ears. I wanted the option, at the mix, to really put the audience in the wheelchair. I hope that shifting from mono dialogue/sync sound to binaural for this shot will help that. I guess I'll see. Or hear, rather.
